The HSSE Nominated For “Hero of the Year”

What do David Miller, Mats Sundin, Jian Ghomeshi, The CBC, and the 5 Cent Plastic Bag Tax have in common? The Torontoist has nominated us for; Hero of the Year for 2009.

We are humbled and delighted to be awarded this annual on-line honour. The best part, the winner is determined by the public. The voting is open and we call upon our supporters to help us out.

While promoting Straight Ahead Laughs 4, The HSSE gets a warm plug from the Shaun Proulx Show on 103.9 Proud FM.

The HSSE Supports National Coming Out Day.

Living in the closet is not only unpleasant, it’s a lie. Too often people deny themselves freedom and true happiness because of fear of ramifications, harsh judgment or social exile from their friends and family.

This event aims to send a supportive message to all those who are fighting with their identity.

No matter what your personal sexual orientation may be, support this group and help someone have the courage to come out and live their lives on October 11th.

March With The HSSE in The Pride Parade This Year

The 2009 Pride Parade marks the HSSE’s 3rd appearance. This year we want to make it our biggest by far. We invite you to march with us and show your support for the gay community.

2009 might go down in history as one of the most important years for same-sex rights. Now more than ever we need to show solidarity.

Arrive on Church & Bloor (exact location will be assigned closer to date) between Noon at 1:00pm and look for the big HSSE banner. I can say with some confidence it is the most fun you’ll have all summer.

The HSSE endorses The International Day Against Homophobia

International Day Against Homophobia is an important movement that is gaining momentum all over the globe.

Based out of Montreal they have a rich history of bringing attention to the existence of homophobia. Bringing attention to it is a major step towards abolishing it.

The HSSE is enthusiastically throwing its support behind this important event. We very much encourage anyone and everyone who is pro-equality to invite 20 Facebook friends to this event.

The HSSE is nominated for “Honoured Group”

The HSSE is nominated for “Honoured Group” by the Pride Committee of Toronto

On Thursday April 2nd the HSSE will present their case along with 4 other noble groups on why the should be selected for Honoured Group at Pride 2009.

The winner will lead the 2009 Pride Parade along with the Grand Marshal.
